The EU PVSEC 2026 conference in Rotterdam provided an opportunity to present new research on an important aspect of agrivoltaic (APV) system performance: soiling.
We presented a study investigating the particularities of soiling in APV systems, including the potential influence of agricultural activities on the accumulation of dust and other particles on PV modules.
The study is based on sensor-based field measurements from APV sites in Denmark and Spain, providing the first continuous assessments of soiling in APV systems using field data. The Danish measurements were kindly provided by Nicholas Riedel-Lyngskær from European Energy A/S, while the Spanish data were collected at the Cortijo El Cura APV site in Laujar de Andarax.
One of the key findings is that even regions generally considered to have low soiling losses can experience significant seasonal soiling. This highlights the importance of site-specific monitoring to properly assess PV performance in APV systems.
The study contributes to a better understanding of soiling in APV environments and supports the development of data-driven approaches for APV performance assessment and management, in line with the objectives of the DIGI-GROW project.
