First Journal Paper Published in Solar Energy

We are pleased to announce the publication of our first journal paper, Monitoring and Assessment of Elevated Agrivoltaic Systems in Southern Spain, in the journal Solar Energy.

The study evaluates the performance of two elevated agrivoltaic demonstration sites in southern Spain by combining simulation models with data collected through monitoring systems. This integrated approach provides a comprehensive framework for assessing both the technical performance of agrivoltaic installations and their agricultural impacts.

The study highlights several key findings, including:

  • Lower daytime temperatures below the solar panels, creating a more favourable microclimate for crops.
  • The potential to reduce irrigation water use while maintaining crop yields.
  • Practical recommendations and identified challenges to support more integrated performance assessment of agrivoltaic systems.
